India A vs England Lions 2019: 2nd Unofficial ODI, Thiruvananthapuram – Report; India A showed their dominance yet again on the England Lions in the 5-match ODI series. After chasing down the tally in first ODI, now, they successfully defended a total on the board to go 2-0 up in the series.

Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari misses century:

Initially, it was England Lions, who won the toss and asked the home side to bat first. Anmolpreet Singh once again failed to knock runs, as James Porter cleaned him up with a stunner. Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane showed his class alongside number 3 batsman Hanuma Vihari.

They both paired up to add a massive 181-run partnership for the second wicket, which kept England fielders chasing the leather more often than not. Just when both looked set for big individual tallies, both were dismissed in nervous nineties.

Ajinkya Rahane scored 91 off 117 deliveries while Hanuma Vihari scored 92 off 83 deliveries. However, Shreyas Iyer’s 65 pushed India to post 303 runs on the board for the loss of 6 wickets. For England, Zak Chappel and Lewis Gregory picked up a couple of wickets while James Porter and Will Jacks bagged apiece.

Mayank Markande picks 3 wickets:

In reply, England never looked like tackling Indian bowlers. They were never in the chase, as Indian bowlers kept on striking the wickets more often than not. In fact, every bowler got success, as they bagged at least one wicket to their name.

Apart from Alex Davies 48 and Lewis 39, none of their batsmen looked like tackling the opposition bowling attack. Mayank Markande was the pick of the bowlers, who bagged three wickets to his name.

Axar Patel also displayed his class, who picked up 2 wickets in his 9 overs and gave away just 13 runs. Shardul Thakur also bagged a couple while Vihari, Chahar and S Kaul picked one wicket each to bundle England Lions for just 165 runs.
