Krunal Pandya produces all-round performance

Ajinkya Rahane on Sunday won the toss and India A decided to bat first. It didn’t start well for Rahane itself, as he got out on the first delivery off Lewis Gregory. KL Rahul, who recently got cleared to play by the CoA and the BCCI didn’t collect too many runs as well; as he got out to lanky Overton on 13. Later, the middle-order failed to build any partnerships and lost wickets at regular intervals.

Though wicketkeeper-batsman, Ishan Kishan scored 30, Krunal found some runs off his bat too. At his brief stay on the crease, Krunal 21 off 23 balls, hitting three fours in the meantime. By the time he got out, India A’s scorecard had read 94 for five. Meanwhile, courtesy Deepak Chahar’s 39 at the fag end of the series; where he hit four sixes and one boundary, the hosts managed 172 on the board. For England Lions, Jamie Overton picked three for 34.

Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope – only contributors for England Lions

The England Lions got off to a worse start, as they lost both their openers to Axar Patel. As they got reduced to 13/2 inside the fifth over, Chahar got the big fish in Sam Billings to make it 23/3. However, the only contributors for the visitors were Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope. Though Pope hit 27 runs, the left-hander Duckett slammed the highest for his team, scoring 39 off 50 balls.

Meanwhile, Krunal Pandya was the star with the ball picking up four wickets for 21 runs. Apart from him, Navdeep Saini also took two wickets. In the end, India A won the game by 60 runs.
