Indian national cricket team have well and truly dominated the sport across formats and are up against New Zealand in their next away assignment. The full-fledged tour comprises five-match T20I series, three-match ODI series and two-match Test series. The tour kicks off with the shorter format, with the first match scheduled to be played on January 24 at Eden Park, Auckland.

After a magnificent 2-1 ODI series win over a highly-rated Australian side, Virat Kohli and Co will approach the upcoming tour with full of zest and confidence. India’s record in New Zealand hasn’t been good but the touring party will be looking forward to turning the tables this time around.

At the same time, India will never forget the heartbreaking defeat at the hands of New Zealand which came during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. On the other side of the coin, New Zealand can take pride in the fact that they got the better of England team in the two-match Test series at home with 1-0 victory.

However, tragedy soon followed them around like a shadow during their tour of Australia. The Black Caps were humiliated by Aussies as the hosts whitewashed the visitors in the three-match Test series.

“We were completely outplayed in all facets of the game throughout the whole series (against Australia), but now we’re back on home soil and India will be a totally different opposition.

They’re the No 1 team in the world, but we’re obviously in conditions that we know, so let’s get through the white-ball phase first before we get on to talking about that,” Ross Taylor was quoted as saying by stuff.co.nz.
