The hosts India claimed an easy victory against the visitors Sri Lanka in the second T20I of the three-match T20I series at Holkar Cricket Stadium (Indore).

After winning the toss, the hosts decided to field first. Sri Lankan batsmen managed to score 142/9 (20 overs) at the end of the first innings. In reply, the home team chased down that target easily in 17.3 overs after losing three wickets.

With this seven-wicket victory, the hosts’ Men in Blue have taken the 1-0 lead in this series with one match to go.

i) The right-arm pacer Jasprit Bumrah has picked up 52 T20I wickets and becomes the joint-most leading T20I wicket-taker for India. The off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal are also in the same position with 52 T20I wickets each.

ii) Virat Kohli became the leading run-scorer in T20I history as he has scored 2,663 runs in this format. When he got off the mark in this match, he surpassed the fellow national team opener Rohit Sharma (2,633 T20I runs).

iii) Playing as a T20I captain in 30 innings, Virat Kohli (1,006 runs) completed 1,000 T20I runs. He is the fastest cricketer to complete 1,000 runs as T20I captain after breaking the previous record of South African captain Faf du Plessis who achieved this feat in 31 innings. Also, Kohli is the second Indian and sixth overall batsman to score 1,000+ runs as a T20I captain. MS Dhoni (1,112 runs) was first Men in Blue captain to score 1,000+ T20I runs.

iv) Virat Kohli has scored 313 T20I runs against Sri Lanka. As an Indian cricketer, it is the most T20I runs against Sri Lanka. During this match, Kohli surpassed Rohit Sharma who has scored 289 T20I runs against Sri Lanka.
