Of late, India has been blessed with quite a brilliant bowling department. However, due to the lack of team balance, they are making one of their solid bowlers out of the playing XI. Meanwhile, it didn’t impress Sanjay Manjrekar, who asked Indian National Cricket Team to play with all the bowlers and trust their top 6 batsmen.

India is playing with an extra-batsman, who can deliver with the ball but not in the top bracket. Perhaps, Manjrekar doesn’t want that flaw in the bowling department. He asked India to play with their top-class bowler, which will fetch them a victory.

India must develop a belief in six batsmen – Sanjay Manjrekar

Regarding the same, Sanjay Manjrekar felt that India should start believing their top 6 batsmen. So, he thinks they can embed 5 bowlers in the bowling section. He believes Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep, Chahal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will help India win matches.

Digging into his tweet, it read ”India must develop the belief that six batsmen are good enough in their one day team. Be a shame if you have to drop one of Shami, Bumrah, Bhuvi, Kuldeep & Chahal. Just to ‘strengthen’ the batting.”

In the most recent episode of India’s 8-run victory against Australia, India had to rely on Vijay Shankar for the final over of the game. Especially, after an incredible piece of death bowling from Jasprit Bumrah. Though it yielded the result in India favour, it is tough to rely on a bowler like him during the crunch situations, especially, in the World Cup.

In another post, he highlighted how the batsmen were unfairly given most of the credit for India’s success in the two ODI encounters with the Aussies.

It was the partnership of Kedar Jadhav and MS Dhoni which completed the elusive chase of 237 runs in the first match in Hyderabad while Virat Kohli and Vijay Shankar were the chief contributors with the bat in the second.

”How easily we give batsmen all the credit. That India is 2-0 up is thanks more to the bowlers than the batsmen,” he added.

However, it seems like Sanjay Manjrekar has got a valid point. It would be interesting to see whether Indian management considers the suggestion made by the former batsman of India.
