In a major boost for the youngster, Rishabh Pant is also expected to be the sole wicketkeeper on the tour of Sri Lanka.

MS Dhoni is expected to be rested.

Rishabh is an automatic choice, keeping in mind that no other another wicketkeeper-batsman has done well in domestic cricket to earn this spot.

Rishabh scored 411 runs in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which also consisted of fastest ever century by an Indian batsman in T20 cricket.

The likes of Basil Thampi, Deepak Hooda, Washington Sundar might also make a comeback to the T20I side.

Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah are not expected to travel to Sri Lanka.

Once again, the IPL performers will come to fore.

Opener Shikhar Dhawan is not in line to be rested, hence, KL Rahul will have to bat in the middle order during the series.

He did not get even a single opportunity during the South Africa T20I series but is expected to walk in the playing XI during the Nidahas Trophy.

The T20I tri-series start on March 6, with India taking on hosts, Sri Lanka in the first game of the series.
