A lot has been talked and heard about MS Dhoni in recent months thanks to the way the former India skipper’s career has panned out. MS Dhoni has not played for India since the World Cup ended. At first, it looked like he took a sabbatical but the case looks a bit different now.

The way the selectors, BCCI as well as the team-management have responded to questions regarding MS Dhoni, it is more or less clear that he was asked to take a final call on his career and thus he decided to walk away from the team for the time being. Outgoing chief selector MSK Prasad said that the selectors are finally moving on from MS Dhoni while head coach Ravi Shastri said that the veteran could retire from ODIs soon but could still play the T20 World Cup if he does well in the IPL.

And with the picture not at all clear, MS Dhoni’s close friend Suresh Raina has also spoken about the former captain’s career. While confirming that the wicketkeeper-batsman would start training for the IPL from the first week of March, Suresh Raina said that he wants Dhoni to continue playing. Suresh Raina also said that while India still needs Dhoni, it all depends on what skipper Virat Kohli thinks.

“Dhoni will probably be coming to Chennai in the first week of March to train ahead of the IPL. Right now, it is so good to see him spending a lot of time with his family. If he wants to leave the game, he will go without making a big fuss. I want to see him continue to play. He is looking fit and has been training hard. I still think the Indian team needs him. But it is Virat’s call on how they go forward,” Suresh Raina told The Times of India.
