India Suffer Defeat Against Pakistan Again: This Time In World Finals Of Campus Cricket

Still coming to terms with Team India‘s shocking defeat at the hands of Pakistan in the final of the Champions Trophy, the Indian fans have received another setback as another Indian team has suffered a defeat against a Pakistani team in another tournament. Jinnah Government College of Karachi has thrashed Marathwada Mitra Mandal College of Commerce, Pune (MMCC College) by seven wickets on the opening day of the World Finals of Red Bull Campus Cricket.

The Red Bull Campus Cricket is an annual international T20 (20-over) tournament organised for the college cricket teams to provide the young talents a platform on a big stage. The tournament was started in 2012 and is going strong in its ongoing sixth season.

Coming to the match, fast-bowler Hasan Mohsin starred for the Pakistani team as his stunning spell pf 4 for 21 off 3.1 overs totally derailed the Indian team’s innings.  Jinnah Government College spilled two straightforward catches but it did not cost them much as Mohsin’s sensational spell helped them to bowl MMCC out for a paltry  81 in the 17th over.

The score was never going to pose a tough challenge Jinnah Government College as they chased down the small total  inside 15 overs with opening batsman Muhammad Azad top-scoring with 38 off 51 balls.

Meanwhile, eight teams are competing in the tournament which is being held in Sri Lanka. The eight teams are Sri Lanka’s Business Management School (BMS), Australia’s University of Sydney, Bangladesh’s University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), Zimbabwe’s National University of Science & Technology (NUST), India’s Marathwada Mitra Mandal College of Commerce (MMCC College) in Pune, Pakistan’s Jinnah Government College Nazimabad, Karachi, South Africa’s North-West University (NWU) and UAE’s Herriot Watt University, Dubai.

India had suffered a similar fate in the Champions Trophy:

The Men in Blue had entered the final of the Champions Trophy high on confidence, having defeat Pakistan already in the group stage. However, barring the toss which Virat Kohli won, nothing went right for India in the high-voltage clash. Batting first, Pakistan rode on Fakhar Zaman‘s century to post a daunting 339-run target with a loss of four wickets. In reply, India were all out for just 158 runs in the 31st over.

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
