Former cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Dean Jones have predicted a 2-1 score in favour of their respective teams in the the upcoming three-match T20I series.

The Men in Blue are looking unstoppable at the moment and have given the visitors a good thrashing in the five-match One-Day International series, winning four games comprehensively to take the series 4-1. On the other hand, Australia looked completely out of sorts during the series with batting failures being the regular features. After the first two games. the reigning world champions were off to good starts in all the remaining three games but they could not capitalise much on them barring the one in Bangalore as they ended up losing the series.

But while India will surely enter the series as the favourites, Jones feels his country will be able to walk away with a win.

“2-1 win.We will have 2-1 win,” Jones told NDTV.

In reply, Gavaskar retaliated by telling Jones“In your dreams.” before adding:” My prediction is 2-1 to India.

Gavaskar’s reply, however, delighted the ex-Aussie cricketer as he said:“Oh, so we do win one.”

Jones also said that he is not too optimistic about Australia’s chances in the series before praising India and the way they are developing the youngsters.

“No I am not but when you look at the ICC rankings, India is at number 5 and Australia at number 6, that is really disappointing for both the teams. They (India) are a very very good cricket team and the form is going their way, they are developing youngsters. We (Australia) are not putting up a fight at the moment,” said the cricketer-turned-commentator.

Meanwhile, the series will start from October 7 in Ranchi before the teams move to Guwahati and Hyderabad for the remaining two games on October 10 and 13 respectively.
