The loss in the second ODI at Kolkata brings about a harsh reality check for Australia, as the visitors once again tumbled against the guile of the Indian wrist spinners. Needing 253 to win, Australia initially were rocked by the sheer enigma of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The UP pacer was absolutely lethal as he swung the ball viciously against the dangerous David Warner, and sent him back early.

However, the actual turning point of the game came in the middle overs, as India’s wrist spin duo of Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav were at the centre of attraction. The wicket of Travis Head and then Glenn Maxwell, both by Chahal opened up the avenues for India.

But the final nail in the coffin was hammered when Kuldeep Yadav stood as the true antagonist. Picking up Matthew Wade, Ashton Agar and Pat Cummins off successive deliveries, Kuldeep registered a hattrick, as he became the first Indian spinner to take a hattrick.

After being quizzed upon his thoughts on taking the hattrick, Kuldeep credited MS Dhoni, for his valuable guidance behind the stumps.  “Not really could never dream it,” said Kuldeep. “Initially I was struggling to bowl in a particular area.”

“It’s a game of cricket, everything happens. Last match, where I was hit for three sixes in an over, was a learning experience. Asked Mahi bhai what I should bowl, he said tujhe jaisa lagta hai wo daal (bowl what you want)’. This is special for me, changed the game for us. Really proud moment,” said Kuldeep.
