Criticising the unfortunate incident in which rock was thrown at the Australian team bus,  India off-spinner Ravinchandran Ashwin has urged the citizens to act more responsibly.

The Australian players’ happiness was cut short following their comprehensive win over India in the second T20 International at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati when a rock was thrown at their team bus, shattering one of the windows while they were on their way back to the hotel.

Fortunately, no player was injured due to the mishap as no player or staff member was sitting on the seat next to the window when the rock shattered it. The players, however, were left shocked with the incident as Australia opener Aaron Finch took to Twitter to call the incident ‘pretty scary’.

“Pretty scary having a rock thrown through the team bus window on the way back to the hotel!!,” he wrote.

The incident which has shown India in bad light once again has been slammed by many and Ashwin has also joined the bandwagon. The 30-year old, who is currently not in the squad, took to Twitter to make it clear that these kind of acts are not a part of our culture and hoped that his fellow countrymen will act more responsibly.

“We are a country that treats ours guests with great respect and hospitality, he wrote.

“The stone thrown at the Aussie team bus shows us in bad light, let’s all act more responsibly. A vast majority of us are capable of that.?,” he added.

Meanwhile, prior to the incident, the Australian players silenced the jam-packed crowd at the Barsapara Stadium which was hosting its first international game. David Warner’s decision to field first on a moist wicket turned out to be a good decision as India  never looked in ease while batting before being all out for a paltry 118 on the last ball of the innings.

India’s hopes of posting a big total was very much in tatter after Jason Behrendorff‘s sensational 4-wicket haul reduced them to 27 for 4 with the team’s in-form trio Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan back in the hut. Kedar Jadhav (27) and Hardik Pandya (25) played handy knocks but failure from other batsmen did not allow the Men in Blue to post a good total.

India, however, began their defense in full spirits and were at the top of the proceedings after sending back both the openers with only 13 on the board. However, Moises Henriques (62) and Travis Head (48) stitched together an unbeaten partnership of 109 runs to help Australia win the game and level the three-match series.
