India and Australia will lock horns with each other in the first T20I at Vishkhapatnam. It would be another opportunity to try out different combinations in the playing XI before the World Cup. Even though it is the shortest format of the game, the runs and wickets at the International level will add confidence to player’s bag.

On the other hand, both these teams had recently met in the Australian conditions. The T20I series between them was tied whereas India went on to savour Test series triumph for the first time on Australia soil. The guests also went on to win the ODI series against Australia by 2-1.

We take a look at some of the stats which can be achieved in the upcoming T20I series.

Series Stats:

1. Australia is yet to win a T20I series on the Indian soil. In fact, Australia has never won a T20I series against India which has more than one match.

2. Since September 2016, Australia has not won any bilateral series which has had more than one match.

3. Since October 2015, India hasn’t lost a T20I series in home conditions.

Head to Head

Overall Matches: 18, Won by India: 11, Won by Australia: 6, NR: 1.

Matches in India: 5, Won by India: 4, Won by Australia: 1.

Stats:

Jasprit Bumrah has scalped 48 T20I wickets and needs another two wickets to complete his half-century of wickets. Yuzvendra Chahal has taken 45 wickets and he is five wickets shy of completing 50 T20I wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin is the only Indian bowler to take more than 50 T20I wickets (52).

Shikhar Dhawan has thus far played 49 T20I matches. The southpaw opener will become the sixth Indian player to play more than 50 matches. Dhawan also needs a solitary run to become the highest run-getter as an Indian left-handed batsman in home conditions. The Indian opener and Yuvraj Singh has 437 runs.

Rohit Sharma needs another 21 runs to leapfrog Martin Guptill’s tally of 1945 T20I runs as an opener. Currently, Rohit has 1925 runs as an opener in the shortest format whereas the Kiwis opener has 1945.

MS Dhoni will become the oldest T20 player when he will take the field in the first T20I. Dhoni will be 37 years 232 days old. Naseem Khushi (Oman) has recently achieved this record at the age of 36 years and 190 days.

MS Dhoni has 298 International dismissals. Dhoni needs another two dismissals to complete his triple century at home conditions.

Aaron Finch (1663 runs) needs another 130 to surpass David Warner’s tally (1792). The Australian skipper will then become the leading Australian run-getter in the T20I version.
