The India National Cricket Team captain, Virat Kohli has not hit a hundred since the Adelaide ODI early this year. During ongoing Australia limited-overs series at home, Kohli has scored one fifty plus total in three matches. However, off the two T20Is and one ODI so far, Australia’s leg-spinner Adam Zampa has got him out twice – once during the Vizag T20I and next in the previous One-Dayer in Hyderabad. As both the teams gear up for the second ODI of the five-match series in Nagpur, Zampa looks keen on getting Kohli’s number all over again.

We talk a lot about Kohli in the dressing room – Zampa

No doubt, Virat Kohli is the best batsman of this generation – perhaps the greatest of the ODI players in the game of cricket as well. As a result, to talk about him or about how to get his wicket is a frequent discussion in an opposition’s camp. Adam Zampa, who had Kohli in his pocket on four of the 13 occasions both these players have come across in T20Is or ODIs, revealed the same ahead of the Nagpur ODI.

He said the team often spend more time on Kohli than any other player in the dressing room. Further, he stated, two get the better of the best cricketer around is a confidence booster. Speaking to cricket.com.au, Zampa said,

“He’s one guy we always spend a little bit of extra time talking about in team meetings,” Zampa said on Monday. “It’s good for the confidence, it’s exciting to get a player like that out.”

During the last match, Virat got trapped in front of the wickets off Zampa. As Virat is someone, who is a quick learner and often doesn’t repeat the same mistakes – he is likely to no get out to Zampa in the following games in the same manner. Noting the same, Zampa said,

“But it’s also one of those things where he probably won’t want to get out to me again so I don’t know if he’s going to do a bit more thinking about it. I’m going to have to bowl even better this game,” Zampa added.

Zampa remains unsure of Nagpur’s wicket

The leg-spinner has been effective on the India tour so far. Though he didn’t pick up wickets in bulk, Zampa had been economical. However, ahead of the second ODI in Nagpur, Adam said he unsure of how the pitch will behave.

“I’m not sure what the wicket will be like here in Nagpur,” he said. “But if we do get on a bouncy wicket I might have to try to adapt to that as well. I’m just trying to learn on the road.” Zampa concluded.

Meanwhile, India is leading the five-match ODIs 1-0, as the second match will begin on Tuesday (March 5th).
