India won the toss and decided to bowl first against Australia in third One-Day International at the JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi.

Here is what the captains said:

Virat Kohli:

“We are gonna have a bowl. Looks a decent track, could be dry in the afternoon and dew could settle in later. Looks a better pitch than the previous games. Dew is basically the main factor behind chasing. This is a special cap, it’s a tribute to the Armed forces. We’re all donating our match fees of this game to the families of the martyrs. I urge everyone in the country to do the same and stick to the families of our armed forces. We’re playing the same team. It’s been a special couple of games.”

Aaron Finch:

” I would have bowled first too maybe though I am not sure. Need to get stuck in batting first and post a good total. We have one change – Coulter-Nile has gone home for the birth of his child. Jhye Richardson comes in.”

Preview:

All eyes will be on MS Dhoni as he will probably play for one last time in front of his home crowd when India and Australia lock horns in the third ODI. The veteran batsman will be looking to bounce back after registering a rare duck in the previous game. India, on the other hand, will have the chance to seal the series in Ranchi itself which will give them an opportunity to try out their fringe players in the remaining two games of the series.

Australia, on the other hand, will be desperate to avoid another series defeat and win the game in the game in order to keep it alive. They have managed to give India a stiff challenge but the hosts have been able to handle pressure better than their Australian counterpart in both the games. The visitors are in desperate need to win a game to boost their confidence and the Ranchi game gives them the extra motivation to bring their A-game in order to keep the series alive.
