Australia’s D’Arcy Short was a million-dollar buy in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. A lot was expected from the youngster, but unfortunately, things didn’t fall in place for the Australian batsman right from the word go. Further, he also carried his poor form in ODI format to be out from the national team.

Meanwhile, Short wants to make the most of his opportunity against the Indian National Cricket Team. He wants to show his bowling skills in order to press his selection for the national team, especially, with the ICC World Cup 2019 around the corner.

Worked a lot with Sriram on my bowling – D’Arcy Short

The dashing Australian batsman D’Arcy Short is working on his left-arm spin bowling with former India tweaker Sridharan Sriram to enhance selection in the team. He believes that his work will yield success in the series against India.

“I did a lot of work with him (Sriram) in the A tour in August and September. That was good then and I’ve done a bit of work with him yesterday and today, just refining things and getting a little bit better,” he was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.

”If I can give two or three overs or even four or five in one-day cricket then it’s always going to help my selection in the end and hopefully, it goes in my favour,” added Short, who is in the 15-man squad as cover for Shaun Marsh.

Hit the bad ball away:

Speaking on his approach to the spin bowling, Short wants to play on the merit of the ball. He wants to make most of the loose balls and also make use of his feet to move forward whenever it is necessary.

“Just to try and hit the bad ball when it comes and try and score off every ball even if it’s a good ball,” he said. I’ll look to do that and go straight and see how it goes,” he inferred.

However, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out for the youngster. With Shaun Marsh expected to miss the series, Short would like to make the most of the opportunity.
