India National Cricket Team skipper Virat Kohli has stated that KL Rahul has made a strong case for himself in the forthcoming ICC World Cup 2019. Rahul is back in form which is a big positive for the side. The flamboyant batsman had scored 50 off 36 balls in the first T20I against Australia. The Indian opener continued his good form going as he scored a good knock of 47 runs in the second T20I.

Thus, Rahul’s return to form is the big boost for the side. In fact, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are going to be India’s first choice openers for the World Cup. However, KL Rahul can be included as a back-up opener for the ODI showpiece.

Rahul is a class act and it is a treat to the eyes when he gets going. The stylish batsman has had his issues in the recent past but he was at his best in the T20I series against Australia.

“It augurs really well. KL, when he plays well, is operating at a different level I feel. We have seen him do that in the IPL last year and in patches, over the last season we played as a team,” Kohli then went on to explain as what makes Rahul special.

“It’s very difficult to find a consistent player, who can play good cricketing shots and still win you games at a strike-rate of over 140 or 150. He has all the shots and has a solid game as well.

“It will be interesting to see what happens in the final World Cup squad. Definitely, he has made a strong case for himself. It’s good he’s in great nick and hopefully, he can carry it forward.”

KL Rahul is a quality player and there is a lot of talent in him. However, he hasn’t been able to deliver the goods in the recent past. Rahul can come into action when India decides to rest either Rohit Sharma or Shikhar Dhawan.

Rahul will like to keep his impressive show going in the upcoming five-match ODI series. The opening match will take place at Hyderabad on 2nd March.
