India’s batting coach Sanjay Bangar has backed the out-of-form Shikhar Dhawan. The southpaw opener has struggled to find the runs as he has scored only two fifties in the last 17 ODI innings. Dhawan once again could not get going as he scored a solitary run in the third Ranchi ODI against Australia. The left-hander had crunched the ball towards the point region where Glenn Maxwell took a good catch while diving to his right.

The Delhi based batsman was dismissed for a golden duck in the first ODI against Australia. Thus, Dhawan has failed to hit the ground running in the recent past. Consequently, it is a cause of concern for the India National Cricket Team.

Dhawan needs runs.

Meanwhile, Dhawan has failed to get going in the recent past. However, Dhawan is a big player and Bangar said the left-hander is a hugely valuable player for them.

Sanjay Bangar said while talking in the post-match conference, “In the previous game, he (Dhawan) was batting really well till he erred in shot selection. But from our point of view, he has been an important player”.

“If we know that he gets going, he can give us that solidity as it is vital to have that right-left combination going. He is a hugely valuable player for us and he is expected to come good very soon.”

On the other hand, Ambati Rayudu has had three flop innings. Rayudu had received a beauty from Pat Cummins which moved away to hit the top of off-stump. Thus, Rayudu’s form is also a cause of concern.

“Today’s delivery that he got, could have gotten out any batsmen with that pace and low bounce. Players are expected to take chances and that’s what we are expecting of every player.”

Rayudu has scored only 247 runs in the last 10 One Day Internationals. Hence, he has scored his runs at an average of 30.87. Indian openers have had a quiet year thus far excluding Rohit Sharma’s hundred at Sydney. The Men in Blue will want their big players to be back in form before the ICC World Cup 2019.

Shikhar Dhawan has an amazing record in the major ICC events. Consequently, Dhawan will like to get back into form before the World Cup. Dhawan is going to be a big player for the Indian team.
