India’s southpaw opener Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed for the golden duck in the first One Day International against Australia at Hyderabad. Dhawan hasn’t been in the best of forms in the recent past and continued his dismal show going. In fact, the left-handed batsman had scored two fifties in the first two ODI matches against New Zealand. However, since then he has had a rough patch.
The Indian opener once again made the mistake of hitting the ball in the air and Glenn Maxwell took a simple catch at the point region. However, the fans were not impressed by Shikhar Dhawan’s reaction after his dismissal as he laughed after getting out.
Dhawan will want to get a big score soon.
Dhawan has scored only two fifties in his last 10 innings at the International level. Thus, the left-hander will like to turn the tables in the remaining four ODIs against Australia.
Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan has an immaculate record in the ICC events. He was the man of the series in the 2013 Champions Trophy and he would like to deliver the goods in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. Dhawan has all the experience under his belt and he would like to come up roses in England.
On the other hand, India won the opener against Australia by six wickets after Kedar Jadhav and MS Dhoni scored 81 and 59 runs respectively. India was behind the eighth-ball after they had lost four wickets for the score of 99 runs. However, Jadhav and Dhoni were able to bail India out of the trouble. Jadhav scored nine fours and one six to help India get over the line.
Earlier, the Indian bowlers did a fine job as they restricted Australia to a paltry score of 236-7 after Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to bat first. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Kuldeep Yadav scalped two wickets each.

Don't think Dhawan can keep smiling, he has good record in ICC but low scores could get Rahul in early

Did anyone question Dhawan's form and his place in the Indian side ahead of WC? #INDvAUS pic.twitter.com/W34O1tpxzx

Lol, Dhawan doesn't give a damn. Smiled like the ball raced through the outfield for four when it was actually caught by Maxwell. #INDvAUS

What kind of rush is Shikhar Dhawan in always? There are ppl who don’t get opportunities to play for the country and he throws away his wicket almost all the time #INDvAUS

I think Shikhar Dhawan is the only player I’ve seen who has a smile every time he gets out. How much does he enjoy getting out.. thu ne batuku ?? #INDvAUS
