India’s all-rounder Vijay Shankar made good ground to get to the ball at square leg boundary when Usman Khawaja charged Kuldeep Yadav. It was the fifth ball of the 24th over when the southpaw batsman decided to take on the attack against Kuldeep Yadav. Khawaja who had just completed his fifty decided to change gears. However, Khawaja could not get his timing right.

Shankar who was fielding at square leg boundary made good ground to his right. The Tamil Nadu all-rounder dived to his right and he was always in control of the catch. Consequently, India got its third wicket after Australian captain Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to bat first.

Shankar made good ground.

In fact, visitors could not get off to a good start when Jasprit Bumrah got the ball to bounce off the surface. Finch was on the front foot and the ball got the shoulder of the bat with MS Dhoni taking a simple catch.

Kedar Jadhav, India’s golden arm, got the better of Marcus Stoinis when the right-hander tried to go for the big shot. However, the Australian all-rounder could not clear Indian skipper Virat Kohli at short mid-wicket.

On the other hand, Australia is currently batting at 113-3 after 27 overs with Peter Handscomb and T20I series hero Glenn Maxwell at the crease. Meanwhile, Ashton Turner is making his ODI debut for the guests.

In fact, Jasprit Bumrah was able to produce the outside edge of Glenn Maxwell but Rohit Sharma was positioned at wide first slip. Maxwell is in fine form and he is going to be the big fish for the Indian side to catch.

Meanwhile, India has Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami in their playing XI. There was no place for KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Rishabh Pant.
