India vs Australia 4th ODI: Twitter Reacts As Visitors Post Huge Score
Updated - 25 May 2019, 04:37 PM
David Warner celebrated his 100th One-Day International for Australia with a brilliant ton as the world champions posted a daunting 334 for 5 in the ongoing fourth One-Day International at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
After deciding to bat first, the visitors made a solid start with David Warner and the in-form Aaron Finch adding a record 231 for the first wicket, going past the previous highest opening stand for Australia against India which was achieved by Geoff Marsh and David Boon when they added 212 runs in 1986. The mammoth partnership was broken when Warner mistimed a Kedar Jadhav delivery to long-on. But prior to that, he scored 124 off 119 balls, with the help of 12 fours and 4 sixes.
But the visitors once again found themselves in a tight spot after a good start as they lost 3 wickets inside 5 runs to get reduced to 236 for 3 from 231 for no loss with both the openers as well as captain Steve Smith back in the hut.
However, just when it looked like Australia would correct their past mistakes by capitalising on the start, Umesh Yadav dismissed Finch and captain Steve Smith in quick succession to reduce the visitors to 236 for 3 from 231 for 3. But Travis Head and Peter Handscomb added 63 runs for the fourth wicket as the visitors recovered from the mini-collapse and collected 86 runs off the last 10 overs to finish on
Here is how Twitter reacted to the innings:
I continue to be intrigued by how often Kedar Jadhav gives his captain these valuable overs. He was excellent today.

Australia is making a big mistake by not giving Marcus Stoinis enough overs to bat in this series. #IndvAus

Interesting phase of the game both Head & Handscomb in need of runs but team requires minimum 8-10 per over in last 10 overs! #INDvAUS

India lacking elan in the field. Australia off to brilliant start. However, remains to be seen if they have self-belief to win this match

David Warner is playing his 100th ODI today. Probably the only way he can get a 100 in India playing an international game. #INDvAUS

Wade for Maxwell. Steve Smith is really making some weird decisions as captain. #IndvAus
