India vs Australia, Third T20I: Twitter Reacts As India Restricts Australia To Modest Total
Updated - 25 Nov 2018, 04:01 PM
Spinners Krunal Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav starred with the ball as India recovered from a poor start to restrict Australia to 164 for 6 in the third and final T20I. Krunal picked up 4 for 36 while Kuldeep conceded just 19 runs off his four overs in addition to picking up a wicket.
Aaron Finch and D’Arcy Short gave Australia a flying start after the former won the toss and decided to bat first. Eight runs including a cracking boundary from Short set the tone for the Australian innings. At the end of the powerplay, Australia had raced away to 49 without loss.
Kuldeep Yadav then conceded three runs in the seventh over to give India a moment of relief. The pressure nearly gave India the first wicket when Finch miscued Krunal Pandya’s first ball. However, poor fielding once again came to haunt the visitors as Rohit Sharma spilled the catch. Short and Finch then hit a boundary each in the very over to add more salt to India’s wounds.
Kuldeep then gave India the much-needed breakthrough by dismissing Finch and ending the 68-run stand for the first wicket. A couple of balls later, the chinaman trapped Glenn Maxwell in front of the wicket. The on-field umpire gave his decision in the bowler’s favour before a review saved the batsman.
In the next over, Krunal picked two wickets on consecutive deliveries to reduce Australia to 73 for 3 from 68 for no loss. The left-arm spinner first sent back Short before accounting for Ben McDermott for a duck. The pressure got the better of Maxwell too as he perished for just 13 while playing a big shot.
Alex Carey hit a few boundaries but he too failed to get going. Australia never got the impetus in the second half of the innings and were eventually restricted to 164.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the innings:
Have I missed something? @lynny50 being ‘saved’ to finish the innings? Surely you want your most destructive batsmen facing as many balls as possible in a T20? #basics #AUSvIND

Krunal Pandya's graph this series has been good.
1st game: 0/55 in 4
2nd: 1/26 in 4
3rd: 4/36 in 4.#AUSvIND— Suneer (@suneerchowdhary) November 25, 2018
Australia changed their whole batting order to keep Lynn away from the spinners and have lost their way in the process. #AUSvIND

Short is an overrated disabled mug, might play one fluke innings here nd there but can't really believe he still continues to play international cricket.#INDvAUS

#InDvAuS Rohit sharma dropped a catch and the entire commentary team defending him. 'Did everything right' to drop a catch. @bhogleharsha

Right through the series, India’s catching and fielding has been butter-fingered. Reprieve for Finch could prove really expensive

Easy paced pitch and Australia off to a flying start. Reckon India could be chasing 180 or thereabouts. Couple of quick wickets would change the equation though
