India vs Bangladesh: Army Paratroopers To Hand Pink Balls To Captain For Day-Night Test

The authorities are taking all possible measures to make sure the historic day-night Test between India and Bangladesh is remembered for a long time. The much-awaited game will take place at the Eden Gardens later this month. The upcoming game will kickstart both the team’s journey in day-night Tests. Both the teams have not tried their hands at the pink-ball Test yet.

And the monumental game will start on a cracking note as Army paratroopers will fly into the Eden Gardens to hand over a pink ball each to the two captains just before the toss. Cricket Association of Bengal secretary Avishek Dalmiya confirmed the developments. Dalmiya said the association has already discussed with the Army about the plan.

“The paratroopers will fly into the wicket with two pink balls. We have discussed the plans with the Army (Eastern Command),” said Dalmiya.

The Army will also play out the National Anthems of both the countries before the start of play. This will be followed by the ringing of the customary Eden Bell by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee. The CAB has also plans in place to honour former cricketers.

During the 40-minute supper break, the CAB has organised a talk show featuring the ‘Fabulous Five’ of Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble and VVS Laxman. The legendary players will speak on the historic 2001 Test between India and Australia at the venue.

“This will will be showed on the giant screen. It will be clearly audible to the spectators,” Dalmiya said.

Following the first day’s play, players who played the first Test between India and Bangladesh. Both the teams, meanwhile, are currently taking on each other in the first Test in Indore. A double-century from Mayank Agarwal has put India well on top. After bowling out the visitors for just 150, the hosts declared their innings on 493 for 6.
