Dinesh Karthik once again failed to show his worth as a batsman in the English conditions. The flamboyant batsman has always been impressive in domestic and practice matches. But, unfortunately, he couldn’t repeat it on the international circuit. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant looks likely to replace him at Trentbridge.

The southpaw Rishabh Pant, who is coming on the back of good India-A performances might get the nod ahead of under-performing Dinesh Karthik in the 3rd Test. He also has the stamp of approval by Rahul Dravid.

Rishabh Pant has the temperament and skills to bat: Rahul Dravid

As far as Indian cricket is concerned, having a hand of Rahul Dravid on any individual is more or less an assured sign of a quality cricketer. Meanwhile, the legendary cricketer himself certified Rishabh Pant’s calibre to deal with International cricket.

The former skipper of India quoted that the temperament and skills to bat differently will help Rishabh Pant prolong his career. He went on to say that Rishabh Pant will go places if he continues the same work ethic.

“Rishabh has shown he could bat differently. He has the temperament and skills to bat differently,” the former India skipper said after Pant’s show for India A in England.

“He is always going to be an attacking player, but the reading of the situation when one is playing red-ball cricket is required. We are glad he has been picked in the national team and I hope he takes this maturity and builds thereon,” Dravid said.

Dinesh Karthik’s poor run:

After taking the wicketkeeper-batsman role, Dinesh Karthik failed to catch the eyeballs. He registered a couple of duck-outs and a 20-run knock in the second innings of the Edgbaston Test.

Dinesh Karthik looked pretty poor in his defence and never really looked comfortable in the middle. All his dismissals came in either being trapped LBW or being bowled.

However, it would be interesting to see how the things would pan out for Dinesh Karthik in the coming future. Most probably, he will be benched to ask Rishabh Pan tot take his place at Trentbridge.
