India lost the opening match of the T20I series against New Zealand by a massive margin of 80 runs, which was their biggest T20I defeat. It was a dominating performance by the hosts as they continued their supremacy against the Men in Blue in the shortest format of the game. This was the seventh win for the Kiwis against the Indian team in the T20I format.

Subsequently, India will like to bounce back in the T20I series. The visitors will need to win the second match to stay afloat in the three-match series. On the other hand, New Zealand will like to continue its domination after losing the ODI series by 1-4.
