It was one of those great ODI series wins for Indian National Cricket Team in overseas. With the victory coming against New Zealand in New Zealand, it is always a special, as they never tasted much of a success in New Zealand. Meanwhile, the skipper of Black Caps, Kane Williamson lauded India’s effort throughout the series.

Williamson credited the Indian bowling unit for maintaining the pressure on the hosts. Further, he also spoke on quite a few aspects of the series. He also lauded the collective effort of spinners and fast bowlers of India, who made the difference.

“I think throughout this series India were far better at that than us and as a bowling unit they were superb — their accuracy from seaming and spin perspective did put us under that sort of pressure. To be honest, over these five games, we’ve been put under pressure a lot and it obviously challenges decision-making which although we’re on the wrong side of the results 4-1, which India fully deserve,” Kane Willimson said.

On Ross Taylor’s dismissal:

One of the major reasons behind Kiwis loss in the final ODI of the series was the wicket of Ross Taylor. They have the chance to go for a review to reverse the on-field decision. But, after 15 seconds chat between Ross and Kane, they decided to go against it, only to left disappointed to see replays displaying ball missing the stumps.

”I heard about that not long after I got out which is extremely frustrating. We had a conversation and Ross has been batting absolutely beautifully so it breaks your heart when you realise you make a mistake like that through communication.  “Yeah, he walked past me and asked, ‘what do you reckon, and maybe it’s too high, and maybe it’s umpire’s call,’ and unfortunately it’s one of those things that we move on (from),” Williamson said.

On Missing out to chase 251:

Speaking of the loss while chasing 251, the Kiwis Skipper quoted that they have lost the key moments of the game. He credited Indian team for applying pressure in the chase to make things fall in place for their side. Kane also lauded the bowling effort of India, who have been exceptional throughout the series.

“We knew it’d be a challenge but saying that when it is 250, there isn’t the scoreboard pressure, so if we’re able to get partnerships then we could take the game deep and we were confident and been able to chase it down. They (India) were able to pick up wickets at key moments which made life a little bit difficult,” he said.

”I thought the first half from the bowlers was outstanding and in the last two games they’ve really stepped up which is pretty nice. We saw some chances, but for the large part they were able to soak up that pressure and take the game to a stage where they could knock some hard runs,” he inferred.

Well, as Kane Williamson said, India has been brilliant in there defence on such a flat wicket in the second innings. All the bowlers put on the show at the right moment to steal the game away from Kiwis pockets.

However, it has been a stunning piece of cricket from Indian National Cricket Team. They have knocked down Kiwis pretty convincingly to bag the series with a 4-1 margin. Now, both the sides will lock horns in the shorter version of the game.
