Former England Cricket team skipper Michael Vaughan recently questioned the exclusion of Rishabh Pant from the ODI squad following Indian National Cricket team’s eight-wicket loss against New Zealand at Hamilton.

Meanwhile, Trent Boult was in full swing as he ran through Virat Kohli-less Indian batting order. He bowled ten overs on a trot to return with five for 21 including four maidens to put the hosts on top. Colin de Grandhomme also chipped in with three wickets to skittle the men in blues which saw Yuzvendra Chahal top the batting chart with 18 runs. Boult claimed the wickets of Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Kedar Jadhav, and Hardik Pandya to complete his five-wicket haul. As a result, he equalled the record of most number of five-wicket hauls among New Zealanders alongside legendary Richard Hadlee. Only four of the 11 Indian batsmen managed to touch the double-digit mark.

However, it was an easy chase for the hosts as Martin Guptill provided a swashbuckling start. He smashed one six and two fours in the first over the chase before Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed him in the next delivery. Since then, New Zealand stumbled only once to chase down the target in 15 overs.

However, Pant is currently plying his trade for India A against England Lions after taking a break for a few days.

Why isn’t @RishabPant777 getting a go in the ODIs !???” Vaughan tweeted.

Dhoni smacked three back to back fifties in the three ODIs against Australia to win the man of the series award. He also continued his form in New Zealand; however, missed the last two encounter due to a hamstring injury.

Probably because the best wicket keeper batsman in the world is keeping him out of the side. #record #worldcuparoundthecorner,” Shah replied.
