New Zealand’s premier fast bowler Trent Boult bowled a perfect bouncer to get rid of India’s captain Virat Kohli. Boult bowled a bumper towards the right shoulder of the talisman batsman and Kohli went for the pull. However, Kohli could only manage a top edge which lofted to Kiwi’s spinner Ish Sodhi at deep fine leg.

Thus, Kohli was dismissed after scoring 43 runs in the second ODI. In fact, Kohli could not finish off the game in the first ODI as well. He had scored 45 runs and was dismissed by a short ball from Trent Boult in the opening match.

Thus, Boult has attacked the Indian skipper with accurate short pitch bowling and has reaped fruits for the same. Consequently, Kohli would have been disappointed after getting out in the 40s for two consecutive times.

Meanwhile, India got off to a flyer as Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan added a brilliant opening stand of 154 after Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first. This was their 14th-century stand and they went past the record of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag who added 13 hundred stands.

Rohit Sharma was looking good for a big score. However, India’s deputy was dismissed off a short-pitched ball. Shikhar Dhawan tried to go for the cut shot and got an outside edge against Trent Boult.

Meanwhile, Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni will like to give the finishing touches to India’s first innings. Rayudu is looking good as he currently batting on 41 runs whereas MS Dhoni has also got off to a good start. Dhoni is in good form and would like to carry the impetus. The visitors are currently leading the series by 1-0.
