Indian National Cricket team fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has admitted that they don’t want to depend on their skipper Virat Kohli every time to win them matches following their loss at Hamilton. Meanwhile, New Zealand stunned the visitors as they beat them by eight wickets to pull one back after losing the first three games of the five-match series.
However, the men in blues were without their regular skipper Virat Kohli. The selectors have given them a break from cricket and will not take part in the last two ODIs and the T20I series to follow against New Zealand. Meanwhile, the men in blues have already sealed the five-match series winning the first three games.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have carefully monitored Virat Kohli’s workloads since the start of 2018, resting the captain for the Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka in March, India’s one-off Test against Afghanistan in Bangalore in June, the Asia Cup in the UAE in September and the home T20Is against West Indies in November.
Don’t want to depend on Kohli every time
“See you always miss him (Kohli) in such kind of wickets but at the same time, it was an opportunity for Shubman Gill who came in his place. What he (Kohli) has done is amazing but we always don’t want to depend on him,” Bhuvneshwar said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
The fifth and the final match of the series is on February 3 (Saturday) at Wellington. India will look to move onto the T20Is with a win on their side.
