India’s opening southpaw batsman Shikhar Dhawan believes that the team has got enough runs on the board. The visitors have posted a par score of 324 runs after Indian skipper Virat Kohli called the right side of the coin and decided to bat first in the second ODI against New Zealand at Bay Oval.

Dhawan provided a perfect start to the tourists as he added a fine partnership of 154 runs with Rohit Sharma. Both the Indian openers batted at the top of their game to give a perfect platform to the side.

The southpaw batsman scored 66 runs from 67 balls. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma scored 87 runs from 96 balls. Rohit scored nine fours and three sixes in his knock whereas Dhawan scored nine fours in his innings.

“I am very happy with my contribution. It’s a good wicket and I think we have got a good total. It’s a nice surface, it can get a bit slow. We got enough runs on the board when Indian crowd is there, it’s always going to be loud,” Shikhar Dhawan said while talking in the innings break.

Furthermore, Kedar Jadhav and MS Dhoni provided the finishing touches to the Indian team. Dhoni scored 48 runs from 33 balls whereas Jadhav scored 22 runs from 10 balls.

In fact, India could have scored more had they scored fluently between 41 to 45 overs. They could only add 29 runs in those four overs despite having wickets in their bag. However, they added 53 runs in the final four overs to end their innings on a high.

On the other hand, Ambati Rayudu also scored a good knock 47 runs. Furthermore, Indian captain Virat Kohli collected 43 runs. Kohli was done by a short ball from Trent Boult. Meanwhile, India is currently leading by 1-0 in the five-match series and would like to continue their impetus.
