Indian National Cricket team spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal were at their business once again during the first ODI against New Zealand at Napier. Yadav returned with four while Chahal picked two as the visitors rattled the hosts for a paltry score of 157 runs.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami provided the initial breakthrough rattling the stumps of both the openers after New Zealand opted to bat first. In the process, he became the fastest India to scalp 100 ODI wickets as India took an early grip on the game.

Since then, skipper Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor tried to stitch a partnership concentrating more on ones and twos. However, when things started looking good the Black Caps, Yuzvendra Chahal held onto a beautiful catch off his own bowling to remove Taylor (24). Although Williamson brought a half-century, wickets kept falling from the other end as Kuldeep Yadav weaved his magic.

Yadav finished off the proceeding with four for 39 in his 10 overs as the Kiwis were all out for 157 runs. Following his magical spell, he admitted that they tried to stick to their basics and it worked out. He also sounded hopeful that the batsmen will reach the target easily.

Always a challenge to bowl in NZ due to the small grounds here. Myself and Chahal were just looking to stick to the basics, what we do in other conditions and it worked. I think it’s a good batting wicket and this should be an easy target. Hopefully, we can finish the task with the bat. When we played in Australia also, we got a lot of support and now to get more of the same in New Zealand, it’s really amazing,” Yuzvendra Chahal said during the innings break.
