India will begin their long home season with three-match T20I and Test series against South Africa starting from September 15 (Sunday). They will be high on confidence after whitewashing West Indies across formats. Veteran spinner Amit Mishra picked a balanced Indian side to beat the Proteas in the Tests.

Virat Kohli & Co made an emphatic start to the ICC World Test Championship beating West Indies 2-0. They produced a thorough effort against the Caribbeans. The form of Ajinkya Rahane and Hanuma Vihari in the middle-order have strengthened their batting. The bowling unit also backed the hard work put in by the batters.

India will have to keep up the same form against a formidable opponent – South Africa. Amit Mishra, while speaking on the sidelines of an event, picked the home side as the favourite to win. Citing reasons, the veteran spinner said that India are well ahead in the batting and spin bowling department.

“We have a better team than them, a more balanced side. Our batsmen are better. In the bowling department also, we have better spin than them,” Mishra told reporters on the sidelines of an event. “The only area where there is a 50-50 competition is in fast bowling,” he added.

South Africa will be with a new skipper in Quinton de Kock in the T20Is. They will hope to bounce off the blocks from a poor World Cup campaign. Amit Mishra said despite having the chokers tag, the Proteas will give a good fight and take the series deep. However, he has backed India to win the three-match series.

“South Africa has the tag of chokers, we saw it in the recent ODI World Cup and also in T20 World Cup in 2016. They are not able to perform well under pressure, so that weighs them down. But yes they have the fighting spirit,” Mishra concluded.
