After a dismal tour of England, India will be back to familiar territory as they face West Indies in a two-match Test series at home starting from 6th October. Ajinkya Rahane, the vice-captain of the India team is gearing up for the series with a few net sessions. Taking to his official Instagram handle, Rahane shared a video, where he can be seen batting in the nets and middle and a few deliveries. “Getting ready for the upcoming series with a nice batting session in the nets,” Rahane captioned the video.

Ajinkya Rahane didn’t had a particularly good time in England. However he came back to some form during the later part of the series. He scored a brilliant 82 at Edgbaston which helped India win their only Test in the series. He followed it up with a couple of gritty half-centuries. However, he couldn’t quite get India over the line in some close matches.

Rahane hasn’t been in the best of touches in the recent past. He was dropped from the Test Playing XI for the first couple of Tests in South Africa. However, in his return in the 3rd Test in Johannesburg, Rahane played a brilliant counter-attacking knock of 48 which helped India set South Africa a tricky target on a wearing track.

He then went onto lead India in the one-off Test against Afghanistan in the absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli. India thrashed Afghanistan by an innings. Though Rahane wasn’t among the runs in the match. He is one of the most important players in the Indian Test team. However, he hasn’t been at his fluent best in the past few months which has led to widespread criticism from every quarter.

Meanwhile, captain, Virat Kohli has been named in the two-match Test series against Windies. However, if he is not fully fit, the team management might not risk him as the Australia tour will be the more important than the home series. India starts as outright favourites and are likely to thrash the Windies in both the Tests unless there is a surprise sprung up by Windies.
