India head coach Ravi Shastri lavished praise on Prithvi Shaw as the youngster continued his impressive show in the recently-concluded second Test against West Indies.

Prithvi Shaw is truly justifying the hype surrounding him by taking international cricket by storm. The youngster scored a magnificent century on his Test debut in Rajkot. And the 18-year old gave the world another glimpse of his immense potential in the second Test against the Caribbean outfit. Fresh off the stunning century on his debut, he hit a six and four in the very first over to get going.   It took him only 38 deliveries to reach his fifty in the first innings. In the process, he became only the eighth Indian to score fifty-plus scores in first two Test innings.

But unlike the first game, he could not convert the fifty into a hundred and fell after smacking 70 off just 53 balls. The innings contained 11 fours and a six.

In the second innings where India needed just 72 runs to win the game, he played another impressive knock. The right-handed hit four boundaries during an unbeaten knock of 33 as India won the game by 10 wickets to whitewash the visitors.

Delighted with India’s latest Test player, coach Ravi Shastri heaped praise on him.

“He (Shaw) is born to play cricket. He’s been playing since the age of 8 in the maidans of Mumbai, you can see all that hardwork showing. He’s a spectator’s delight. There’s a bit of Sachin there, a bit of Viru in him and when he walks – there’s a bit of Lara as well,” said Shastri at the end of the match.
