India stars Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni will have an opportunity to achieve some notable milestones in the upcoming 5-match ODI series against West Indies.

After skipping the Asia Cup to take some much-needed rest, Virat Kohli is back at the helm of the Indian team and will lead the side against West Indies. And as usual, the right-hander will have a chance to break a plethora of records in the upcoming series.

Virat Kohli now needs just 187 runs to become the leading run-scorer among Indian vs West Indies in ODIs. Former India star Sachin Tendulkar currently holds the record with 1573 runs. Kohli also needs 221 runs to complete 10000 ODI runs. If he achieves the feat, he will become just the fifth Indian after Sachin Tendulkar (18426 runs), Sourav Ganguly (11363 runs), Rahul Dravid (10889 runs) and MS Dhoni (10123 runs) to surpass the 10,000-run mark in ODIs.

On the other hand, MS Dhoni needs needs 101 runs more to complete 1,000 runs vs West Indies ODIs. So far, Dhoni has scored 1,000 ODI runs against four teams –  Sri Lanka, England, Australia and Pakistan. The former India skipper will be desperate to be among runs to ease the pressure off him. The 37-year old has been facing the heat after his poor show in England and the Asia Cup.

Opening batsman Rohit Sharma is also only 170 runs away from completing 1,000 ODI runs against West Indies. Sharma is in stunning form at the moment after leading India to the Asia Cup title and will be eyeing another impressive series.

Meanwhile, the visitors have already lost the Test series 2-0 and will be looking to put up a good show in the ODIs against the Virat Kohli-led side. The five-match series will get underway from October 21. Guwahati will host the series-opener before the two teams will take on each other at Indore (October 24), Pune (October 27), Mumbai (October 29) and Thiruvananthapuram (November 1).
