Team India will look to keep up their winning run when the second T20I against West Indies kick off in Thiruvananthapuram on December 8 (Sunday). Meanwhile, the hosts are currently 1-0 up in the series after registering an outstanding victory by six wickets while chasing 208 runs in Hyderabad.

Skipper Virat Kohli was the anchor-in-chief alongside KL Rahul to plan the chase to perfection. Although Rahul got out after a well-made fifty, Kohli remained unbeaten on 94 runs including six fours and sixes each to take his side home with eight balls to spare. However, India will be worried with the effort of the bowlers giving away 207 runs with Deepak Chahar shelling as many as 56 runs in his four overs.

The Men in Blues might look to bring some changes in their bowling unit for the second game as they hope to seal the series with one match in hand.

Here is the predicted playing XI of Team India for the second T20I of the three-match series in Thiruvananthapuram on December 8 (Sunday):

Rohit Sharma had a rare failure in the first match getting out for eight runs from ten deliveries. The Mumbai-born opener has been in terrific form with the bat in recent times and will be desperate to bounce back. Meanwhile, Rohit was at his best in the field and saved some crucial runs for his side in Hyderabad.

KL Rahul played a fine knock for India in the first T20I which set up the win. In the process, the cricketer from Karnataka also crossed the 1000-run landmark in the shortest format for India. Rahul will hope to keep scoring runs for his side and confirm the opening slot with the ICC T20 World Cup coming ahead.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli masterclass was on display in Hyderabad as he single-handedly took the game home with an unbeaten knock of 94 runs. The India skipper will look to keep up the swashbuckling form and help his side seal the series with one match to go from the front.

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer couldn’t deliver the goods in the first T20I. However, he has been scoring runs on a constant basis since he was drafted into the playing XI following India’s exit from the ICC World Cup. Iyer will hope to keep up the excellent job he has doing to retain his place in the side.

Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant continues to be in the firing line and consistent failures leading to this series. The young cricketer will be keen to showcase his talent with the bat and put all his critics to rest. However, Pant looked confident behind the stumps inflicting a stumping in the first T20I. But the wicket-keeper batsman will hope to make it big with the bat in the upcoming fixtures.

Shivam Dube

Shivam Dube had a very minimal role in the first T20I between India and West Indies in Hyderabad. He bowled only one over giving away 13 runs. The young all-rounder needs to come out all guns blazing and perform in these pressure situations to be in the excellent book of the selectors ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup.

Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja was the most economical bowler for India in a run-belter in Hyderabad. Although he managed to pick only one wicket, he bowled a tight line and length to keep the scoreboard in check. Besides, Jadeja is more than handy with the bat giving the host an extra batting option.

Washington Sundar

Although he picked up the wicket of Evin Lewis, Washington Sundar shelled runs at an economy of over 11. The all-rounder from Tamil Nadu needs to bounce back soon to retain his place in the playing XI with Kuldeep Yadav waiting in the wings. India will hope Sundar to fire in the powerplay overs and provide early breakthroughs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar didn’t have a great comeback from injury as he remained wicketless in the first match. But the senior fast bowler knows how to make a turnaround and will hope to put his best feet forward in the next game of the series against West Indies.

Mohammed Shami

Deepak Chahar, who gave away 50+ runs in his four overs, is likely to make way for the experienced Mohammed Shami. The Bengal pacer has been in a good rhythm running in hard and will hope to keep up the excellent work in the shortest format with the ICC T20 World Cup looming ahead.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal was among the wickets in Hyderabad which witnessed over 400 runs being scored in 40 overs. The leg-spinner, however, needs to keep a check on the economy rate as India will look forward to sealing the series in the next game in Thiruvananthapuram.
