India vs Windies 2018: 1st Test, Rajkot, Day 1 - Lunch Report

Finally, the wait is over, and the red-ball cricket is back on the Indian soil with India vs Windies 2018 series. India completely dominated the things in the first session on day one of the Rajkot Test. It was the classic innings from the duo Prithvi Shaw and Cheteshwar Pujara, who scored unbeaten fifties to put Indians in the driving seat.

Initially, it was India, who won the toss and asked the visitors to roll their arms. India left Shardul Thakur in the already announced 12-member squad. On the other hand, Windies are without their regular skipper, Jason Holder.

Prithvi Shaw continues his magic alongside Pujara’s class:

On this big day, Prithvi Shaw looked pretty calm and never showed his pressure nerves. Right on his second delivery, the Mumbaikar smashed a backfoot punch thus completing his runs for team India in the red-ball cricket.

On the other hand, the poor run of form continues for KL Rahul. He bagged a golden duck to his name when he was exposed right in front of the stumps. It was a brilliant inswinger from Gabriel as well.

However, the local boy, Cheteshwar Pujara looked pretty comfortable in the middle, who joined Prithvi Shaw at the crease. Both displayed brilliant batting with some crispy drives all around the park.

Prithvi Shaw, in particular, smashed the boundaries whenever the poor ball was one offer. He made his maiden Test fifty on the debut and still going strong to his complete his maiden century. Meanwhile, Pujara also stroked his way to 19th fifty as well.

Apart from the first over, Windies never looked like coming into the game, as they were kept on chasing the leather by Shaw and Pujara. On a conclusion, at the end of the first session, Shaw is batting on 75* while Pujara is on 56*.
