India vs Windies 2018: 2nd ODI - Twitter Reacts as the Second ODI Finishes in a Tie
Updated - 24 Oct 2018, 11:56 PM
Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer produced magical efforts as the second ODI between India and Windies finished in a tie at Visakhapatnam on October 24.
Meanwhile, Shimron Hetmyer continued his brilliant form as he missed his century by six runs. He along with Shai Hope led the recovery after Windies lost two wickets within the first 12 overs. The duo dominated the proceedings bossing over the slow bowlers of India.
Hetmyer, who century in the first outing went in vain, smashed the balls to bring his half-century. However, he was unfortunate to notch his consecutive hundred as Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed him at 94. Although Hope continued to chip in with contributions, the experienced Indian spinners made it tough from the other end.
Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravindra Jadeja held things tight to balance the game after Hetmyer took it away from India. However, Shai Hope kept Windies’ hopes alive bringing his century in 113 balls. With 20 needed from the last two overs, Mohammed Shami gave away only six runs while Shai Hope ensured that his efforts don’t go in vain..
Previously, Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 157-run knock guided India to a massive target of 321 runs. The Indian skipper had a very good record at this venue and he needed 81 to become the fastest batsman to reach 10000 runs in a format he has bossed ever since he made his debut. He didn’t disappoint the Vizag faithful as he not only fetched those 81 runs but also went onto add one more century to his ever-growing collection.
Kohli shared a 139-run partnership with Ambati Rayudu (73) to take the total over 300-run mark. The middle-order also chipped in with valuable contributions to provide support to the skipper.
India now leads the five-match ODI series by 1-0 with three matches still to play.
Here is how the Twitter reacted following India’s run win against Windies in the second ODI against Windies at Visakhapatnam:
Great effort from the West Indies to tie this. Hope was brilliant and I really like the uncomplicated approach of Hetmyer. #IndvWI

Damn, Kohli missed the record of highest score in a tied ODI by one run.
It's Andrew Strauss who scored 158 against India at Bangalore in the 2011 World Cup.#INDvWI #ViratKohli— Omkar Mankame (@Oam_16) October 24, 2018
After the bad performance in the Test series, Windies have shown good promise in the ODIs. Suddenly what looked a boring series, has come alive….#INDvWI

A little, yes – either Hope needs to step up or Powell, Holder and Nurse will have to go hard from ball one. If he can pull this off, it could be the making of him as an ODI player.
And still 11 overs of spin to go…#INDvWI ????#guerillacricket https://t.co/EMxUZK9hvE
