Former Indian opener and now commentator Aakash Chopra explained the meaning of ‘Dropped’ in Indian cricket. The former right-handed batsman believes a player is either picked or rested. In fact, we have seen that the Indian selectors have used strange selection policies. MSK Prasad led panel had earlier said that Ravichandran Ashwin was rested from the ODI squad. However, Ashwin hasn’t played for India’s ODI side after the Champions Trophy.

Thus, the message sent to the media by the selectors always has an asterisk of Terms and Conditions apply. Meanwhile, the Indian selectors went on to announce squad for the T20I series against Windies and Australia. The All-India Selection Committee also named the squad for the four-Test match series against Australia.

Interestingly, MS Dhoni could not find his place in the T20I side for both series against Windies and Australia. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma makes the cut for the Test series against the Australian team.

Rohit has done well in the limited overs format of the game and finally borne fruits for the same. Meanwhile, Parthiv Patel also got a call for the Test squad. However, Shikhar Dhawan was once again overlooked for the Test team.

Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair were once again ignored by the selectors even after performing well in the domestic circuit. On the other side, the T20I side is filled by some new and young blood. Krunal Pandya, Manish Pandey, Washinton Sundar, and Khaleel Ahmed make their place in the shortest version.

Thus, the selectors continue to baffle us all with their selection strategy. There were some brave calls from MSK Prasad led panel.

.Aakash Chopra took to his Twitter account to share his thoughts. Chopra post read, “The word ‘Drop’ is ‘Dropped’ in Indian cricket. You’re either not picked or rested. Last year we were told that Ashwin was rested from ODI cricket too…. #IndvWI”
