India vs Windies 2018: BCCI Announces 12-Man Squad for 1st T20I

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced the 12-man squad for the first T20I. Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team in the absence of full-time skipper Virat Kohli. Meanwhile, Krunal Pandya makes the cut into the 12-member squad and is likely to debut tomorrow in the first match of the three-match series.

KL Rahul who didn’t receive his chance in the ODI series is also included in the 12-man squad. Dinesh Karthik who was excluded from the ODI squad is also in the 12-man squad. Furthermore, Manish Pandey who has had a good run in the domestic circuit breaks into the side.

Therefore, there is no place for Shreyas Iyer who had done well in the recently concluded Deodhar Trophy. Meanwhile, Khaleel Ahmed who has had an emphatic start to his career is also included in the squad. Ahmed had bowled with fire in the Asia Cup. Moreover, he continued his good form in the ODI series against the Windies.

The southpaw pacer had scalped three wickets in the fourth ODI against the visitors. Rishabh Pant is going to hold the wicketkeeping duties in the absence of MS Dhoni. Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal gets back into the team after missing the last two ODIs against the tourists.

India’s captain Rohit Sharma will confirm team’s playing XI at the time of toss. The first T20I between India and Windies will take place at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on November 4.
