India vs Windies 2018, Fifth ODI - Toss Report

Windies won the toss and decided to bat first against India in the fifth and final One-Day International at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram.

Here is what the captains said:

Jason Holder:

“We are gonna bat first. Hopefully we will get some runs on the board and put them under pressure. He is ruled out for the entire tour. Hopefully, he can recover for the next tour. I think it it is about consistency. That is what the good teams though. ”

Virat Kohli:

“We would have bowled first as well. There would be a lot of dew. It has been overcast for the last few days and there would be something in the wicket. If it is too damp, the spinners will also come into play.”

Preview:

After looking far from being at their best, India blew away Windies in the fourth ODI to take an unassailable 2-1 lead. India had entered the game after being stunned by 43 runs in the third ODI.  But India bounced back in style to win the fourth game by 224 runs. Windies did manage to stop Virat Kohli from scoring his fourth ton of the series but looked hapless against Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu. Both the batsmen scored centuries to guide India to a mammoth 377 for 5. In reply, Windies were all out for just 153.

No surprises then that India will enter the game full of confidence. But given Windies’ performance in the first three games, taking the visitors lightly could be dangerous for the hosts. India will have a chance to win a series 3-1. On the other hand, Windies will be looking to register a morale-boosting win to draw the series 2-2. With so much riding on the contest, one can expect a thrilling clash in Thiruvananthapuram.
