India didn’t get any competition from the Windies in the first Test match at Rajkot. However, the Men in Blue can be rest assured that they will have their work cut out in the three-match T20I series against the visitors. The first T20I match will take place at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 4th November. Therefore, we try to decode India’s probable T20I squad for the three-match series.

In fact, Cricket West Indies has already named its T20I squad for the series. India will look to pull up their socks against the Windies side who are known to be specialist in the shortest format of the game.

Virat Kohli can get another rest.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma can hold the captaincy reins as Virat Kohli can be once again rested.  In fact, Siddharth Kaul is expected to find a place in the Indian squad.

Ravindra Jadeja has been in fine form in the last one month. Thus, the all-rounder should also make his way back into the T20I squad. Jadeja had scored his maiden Test hundred in the first Test match against the Windies. Furthermore, the southpaw player had also done well in the Asia Cup.

Rishabh Pant has also done fine in the red ball version. In fact, Pant game is more suited to the shortest format of the game. Pant was the second highest run-getter in the IPL and he must get his opportunity for the series against the Windies.

KL Rahul has done well in the Twenty20 cricket. Furthermore, Manish Pandey and Dinesh Karthik have been regular members of the limited overs side of India. Meanwhile, Deepak Chahar who recently made his ODI debut finds his place in India’s Probable squad.

Here is how India’s Probable T20I squad looks like:

Openers:

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have done a fine job for the Indian team in the limited overs form. Both the talisman openers have been instrumental in the success of the team and would like to continue with the impetus against Windies.

In fact, India’s first assignment on the Australia tour will be the T20I series. Therefore, these two openers will like to go as confident openers to the tour of Down Under.

Middle Order

KL Rahul and Manish Pandey will take the responsibility in the middle order. Rahul had scored a fine hundred in the T20I series against England and would like to continue with his good show in the shortest format. Manish Pandey has been in good form and would like to make the most of his opportunity.

Wicketkeepers

MS Dhoni, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant.

India can include as many as three wicketkeepers in their T20I squad against Windies. However, there is no denying the fact that MS Dhoni will continue to hold the wicketkeeping duties. However, Dinesh Karthik has also done well in the shortest version. Furthermore, Rishabh Pant should get his chance as his game is well suited to the shortest format.

All-Rounders

Hardik Pandya should be fit for the T20I series. Pandya had suffered an injury in the Asia Cup which had ruled him out. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja should also get his chance in the T20I squad as he is in fine form with both bat as well as the ball.

Bowlers:

Pace Battery

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Siddharth Kaul, Deepak Chahar.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah were rested for the red ball series against the Windies. India’s premier bowlers should return for the T20I series. Kumar and Bumrah have been the pillars of India pace bowling battery and would like to continue with their good form.

Meanwhile, Siddharth Kaul and Deepak Chahar have had an expensive start to their career. However, both the players will look to take the harsh lessons and learn from their mistakes.

Spinners:

Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal

Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvedra Chahal have been impeccable for the side. Both the spin twins have done a fine job since they have started playing for India. Chahal and Kuldeep will like to continue with their good show for the Windies series.
