Kohli lauded Hetmyer, Hope

Earlier in the day, skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first. India lost their openers inside first ten overs, as Roach and Nurse helped Windies start the game on a good note.

However, Virat Kohli and Ambati Rayudu contributed 139 runs for the third wicket and put India in driver’s seat. Later, Kohli achieved the extraordinary record of completing 10,000 runs in ODIs in just 205 innings, the fastest in ODI cricket. Also, he took ten years and 66 days to achieve the feat. Further, Virat completed his 37th ODI ton against the Windies as well. His hundred helped India post 322 for six in 50 overs.

Glad to be part of this game – Virat

However, unorthodox bowler, Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers who picked up three wickets in the match. Later, Virat Kohli was awarded as the Man of the Match. During the post-match presentation, he said,

“It was a great game of cricket, great to be part of it. Full house and Windies showed great fight. Beautiful partnership between both those guys and in the end it was a fair result.  I’m pretty proud of my milestone. It’s something we decided pre-game, it was hot and humid. In big tournaments, we might be batting first, and we have to embrace every challenge that comes our way. The pitch was drastically different, we put up a challenge in front of us today, and luckily we got the draw, and we will take it happily. When the run rate fell under 6, I thought they had a good chance, and the game nicely drifted in the last seven overs and one boundary off Umesh off the shoe and that boundary from Rayudu just a few inches.”
