How scintillating was it from Khaleel Ahmed on the other night in Mumbai? The youngster had finally lived up to the expectations of Zaheer Khan, who was sure of his success. It was a firing spell, which never allowed the Windies batsmen to deal with it. Perhaps, his magical spell has given him the ticket to 2019 World Cup as well.

Initially, it was all about Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu. The duo put on a stunning performance to help India register a massive total of 377 on the board. In reply, Khaleel Ahmed’s incredible spell and the remarkable fielding by Virat Kohli and Kuldeep made things pretty easy for hosts.

When asked about the wicket of Marlon Samuels, Ahmed added saying it was a nice feeling to trap Marlon Samuels with a plan. And also, Khaleel Ahmed cited he loves to appeal while his bowling.

”It was there in my mind that there would be some moisture in the wicket given that we would bowl under lights and I would try to swing it. Once I got my line, I tried to persist with it. I am working on my bowling with Bharat Arun sir since I have been with the Indian team. I have been practising a lot and implemented it today,” Khaleel Ahmed said.

”I was bringing it into him (Samuels) and then all of a sudden I bowled the out-swinger to trap him. I appeal sometimes out of excitement and also feel that I am having the batsman under pressure,” he said to Sanjay Manjrekar.

However, it has been magical spell by Khaleel Ahmed against the Windies in the 4th ODI. Meanwhile, he would like to be consistent to seal his place in the playing XI for a long time.
