There would be no better arrival to the international cricket than marking a century on the debut. The 18-year-old, Prithvi Shaw had knocked a scintillating ton on his first day at the office. However, the well-wishers and the family members of Prithvi Shaw gave the credits to almighty by performing ‘Tula Bahar Puja’.

A family friend of Prithvi Shaw, Amit Shenoy performed a ‘Tula Bahar Puja’ to the almighty, Sai Baba in Shirdi. Both Prithvi Shaw and his father, Pankaj Shaw are the followers of Lord Sai Baba and believe ‘Tula Bahar Puja’ is a showing their thankfulness.

Explaining the ‘Tula Bahar Puja’, Amit Shenoy quoted it is the purest form of worship. In this puja, coconuts are offered to match one’s weight on a weighing scale. The puja was done ahead of the first Test by the youngster and his father.

Surprisingly, the father of Prithvi hasn’t attended the match, as he wants to follow the superstition of not attending the debut match of the youngster. Ironically, Shaw once again scored a century on his debut in the absence of Pankaj Shaw.

“For Prithvi, we performed a Tula Bhaar puja which is the purest form of worship. In this puja, coconuts are offered to match one’s weight on a weighing scale. Prithvi’s father had come along as well, and it was a great experience for them. Prithvi and his father are dedicated followers of Sai Baba. They visit Shirdi often,” he said. It is learnt that Pankaj will be in Shirdi soon,” said Shenoy, who is one of the trustees of the Mandal.

Prithvi Shaw loves to have Chicken Lollypops after a century – Shaw friend

Meanwhile, the friends of Prithvi Shaw made their way to the stadiums. They cheered for every run scored by Prithvi for his country. Speaking to Mid-day, they also revealed the habit of Shaw of eating Chicken Lollypops after scoring a century.

“Chicken lollypop and rice is his favourite combo and he loves to have it after every century. We don’t know how much time we will get with him to celebrate here as there will be something organised in the Indian team as well,” Mangesh Dhoble, one of Prithvi’s closest friends said.

However, it has been a fantastic ride for Prithvi Shaw. He is blessed to have such a father and the friends, who give their continuous support to their young champ.
