India’s spinner Harbhajan Singh believes Rohit Sharma is more talented but Virat Kohli has worked harder. Both the players were on fire in the first ODI against Windies where they put a huge alliance of 246 runs. Rohit scored an unbeaten 152 whereas Kohli scored a fine 140 to take India over the line. It was a pure masterclass from world’s two best batsmen in ODI version.

In fact, the rankings also tell us the same story as Virat Kohli is the number ODI batsman whereas Rohit Sharma is at the second position in ICC ODI rankings. Meanwhile, Rohit has an abundance of talent under his belt and it is palpable by his shot making. On the other hand, Virat Kohli has worked harder on his fitness as well as his game to reach the numero uno position.

“Rohit Sharma is a player of a different level. When Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma play, it is difficult to judge who is better. The No.1 and No.2 ranking are justified for them and for me…both of them are No.1. The pair is No.1 and whenever they bat together, they dominate,” Harbhajan Singh said while talking to India Today.

Virat Kohli had hit the ground running in the first match. In fact, Kohli always constructs his innings in a traditional way. He doesn’t play the ball in the air and hardly gives a sniff to the bowler.

“It looked like Virat Kohli was batting on a different wicket altogether. It looked like he came to dominate and won’t stop. The amount of hard work Virat has put in on his game, he doesn’t’ give chances. He plays down the ground mostly, doesn’t play much-lofted shots. So, his game is so strong that to get him out, you need to bowl a really good delivery,” an awestruck Harbhajan said.

The Turbanator went on to add both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are number one players for him. Both of them have been in sensational form in the last five years.

“Virat’s numbers have grown over the last couple of years and if I say there is anybody near him, I’ll have to say Rohit. If I say Rohit isn’t as good a player as Virat, it’ll be unfair on him. Both are No.1 players,” Harbhajan said.

Furthermore, Harbhajan Singh said Rohit Sharma has more talent than Virat Kohli. However, Indian skipper has work harder to leave everyone behind.

“If I speak of Rohit, he hit three-four sixes off Morne Morkel in the T20 World Cup in South Africa on a bouncy Durban track. I understood then only that he has a special talent. And, if I just speak of talent, he will be above Kohli but with hard work, Kohli left everyone behind,” Bhajji said.

Harbhajan Singh has hit the nail on the head with his statements. Both of the batsmen are doing a fine job for the Men in Blue and will like to continue in the same fashion.
