Team India bowler Kuldeep Yadav has admitted that the second one-day international against Windies at Visakhapatnam was very crucial for him in the recently concluded series.
Meanwhile, India clinched the series 3-1 following their nine-wicket win at Thiruvananthapuram. Windies batters failed to offer any resistance on a turning track with overcast skies. Jason Holder was the only shining star in otherwise a dull batting unit. Ravindra Jadeja was the star with the ball returning with four wickets.
However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah sent Windies on the backfoot with two early wickets. Since then, young Khaleel Ahmed and Jadeja did the damage to bowl them out for 104 runs.
Kuldeep Yadav, who had an outstanding series also chipped in with one wicket. He finished with nine wickets from four games including two three-wicket hauls.
Speaking after the games, Kuldeep Yadav admitted that Vizag ODI was crucial for him as there was dew at night. He managed to pick three wickets in that game thus helping him improve his game further.
“The wicket did turn a lot. Very difficult to control. You have to hit the perfect areas and not spin too much. A couple of reviews went my way. You just need to bowl in the right areas on this kind of wicket. The game in Vizag was very important to me. There was a lot of dew and I managed to pick up three wickets there. That was very crucial for me,” Kuldeep said after the match.
It looked like a cakewalk for India as they chased down the target losing the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan. Rohit Sharma smashed five sixes in his unbeaten knock of 63 runs along with four fours. In the process, he became the fastest to 200 ODI sixes going past Shahid Afridi. Virat Kohli also chipped in 33 useful runs as India chased down the target in 14.5 overs.
