India vs Windies 2018: Twitter Reacts as India Posts a Above Par Total
Updated - 24 Oct 2018, 07:45 PM
Team India skipper Virat Kohli decided to bat first after winning the toss in the second ODI at Visakhapatnam against the Windies. However, India didn’t get off to a great start as they lost both their openers cheaply. The hosts were able to get to above par total of 321 runs after Virat Kohli made his 37th ODI hundred. Meanwhile, during the course of the innings, Kohli also became the fastest batsman to reach to 10,000 runs as he continued his purple patch going.
Kohli reached the landmark in just 205 innings and became the fourth Indian and 13th overall batsman to scale the mountain of 10,000 runs. Kohli joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and Rahul Dravid. In fact, Kohli was fortunate as he was dropped by Windies skipper Jason Holder when he was on 44.
Virat Kohli – The Modern Great.
Thus, it was once again a fine display from the Indian captain. Meanwhile, India had lost two wickets on the score of just 40 runs. Therefore, there was a need for a partnership for the Indian team. Ambati Rayudu was able to grab his chance at the number four position as the right-hander scored a fine knock of 73 runs. Thus, Rayudu and Kohli were able to post a good partnership of 139 runs.
However, Rayudu could not go all the way as his innings ended with a whirlwind slog. On the other hand, Virat Kohli continued his sublime form as he to got to another hundred and scored an unbeaten 157 off just 129 balls. Kohli scored 13 fours and four sixes in his knock and scored most of his runs by running hard between the wickets before reaching his hundred.
MS Dhoni was promoted to number five, however, former Indian skipper could not find his form as he scored only 20 runs. Rishabh Pant’s 13-ball 17 was ended by a wild slog.
Meanwhile, Vizag pitch is on the slow side and run-scoring is not an easy job. However, Kohli was able to defy all the odds as he brought his best to the table once again. Kohli also completed 1000 runs in 2018 and also became the leading Indian batsman to score most runs against Windies surpassing Sachin Tendulkar.
Here is how Twitter reacted to first innings:
Software update all the time. Virat Kohli has redefined what consistency means. Got his 9000th odi run just 11 innings ago and got his 10000 th today, to go with his 37th century. Enjoy the phenomena #KingKohli pic.twitter.com/OPhvIsBRDJ

Indian Top Order:
Either Rohit score runs or Dhawan but Kohli remains constant.#INDvWI— ?? ? ? (@cricdrugs) October 24, 2018
Virat Kohli's ODI average is closing in on 60. That's one of the craziest stats in the history of cricket.

It’s hot & humid. So easy for someone with Virat’s abilities to say ‘forget the running, let me deal in boundaries today’ No, he still wants to get quick runs, risk free. So it’s once again putting the body on the line, running hard between the wickets.??????#INDvWIN

Another day, another hundred for Virat Kohli. As close to normalcy now as it could get. What a player! #INDvsWI

Heard that Oxford Dictionary is considering replacing ‘Consistency’ with ‘Kohli’. Makes a lot of sense ??? #IndvWI #37

And another 100 from the skipper and best player in the world by a distance @imVkohli in tennis he would be a combo of Federer Nadal and Novak!! Unreal batting.

The definition of purple patch is found in the dictionary. The best example is found on the cricket field, in a blue kit, jersey number 18. Unbelievable @imVkohli ???? #IndvWI
