India was able to put their noses in front as they scored 364 runs at the end of the first day’s play against Windies. Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first. However, India didn’t get off to an ideal start as they lost KL Rahul early on in the innings. However, debutant Prithvi Shaw and Cheteshwar Pujara brought out their best. Shaw scored his hundred on debut as he showed great temperament.

The prodigy batsman brought his best to the table as he batted at the top of his game. Shaw became the 15th Indian batsman to score a hundred on his Test debut. Furthermore, he also became the second youngest Indian batsman to score a century after Sachin Tendulkar.

Shaw batted at the top of his game.

Shaw scored as many as 19 boundaries in his blistering knock as he batted in the topmost gear. It was a fine performance from the young batsman as he showed the right technique. Shaw met the ball under his eyes as he showed no signs of any jitters in his maiden appearance. The young batsman batted without any kind of pressure as he went out there in the middle and expressed himself with all the confidence.

Therefore, Shaw scored his runs with great ease as he showed the right promise at the topmost level. The rookie batter was well supported by Chesteshwar Pujara. Meanwhile, the experienced batsman took his time in the initial stages of his innings. However, Pujara also changed his gears when he was able to get his eye in. In fact, Pujara was playing in his home ground and must have been familiar with the conditions as he scored a fine knock of 86 runs.

On the other hand, Shaw scored 134 runs as he took the game away from the tourists. It was a fine display of performance from the young batsman.

Meanwhile, India’s captain Virat Kohli and deputy Ajinkya Rahane adopted a cautious approach. Kohli only scored two boundaries in his innings as he collected most of his runs by running between the wickets. However, Rahane could not continue as he lost his wicket to Roston Chase.
