India vs Windies 2018: Twitter Reacts As Rohit Sharma's Ton Guides India To Huge Total
Updated - 06 Nov 2018, 09:48 PM
Bouncing back from a not so convincing batting show in the first T20I, India posted a huge 195 for 2 in the second game against Windies at Lucknow.
Both Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan had failed to get going in the series-opener at Eden Gardens. But Windies failed to see them off early in the ongoing game. Asked to bat first on a new track, India were off to a cautious start. Oshane Thomas started the proceedings with the ball by bowling a maiden over. However, it was a not a precursor of the things that were to follow as both Dhawan and Rohit soon found their grooves.
After collecting just 20 runs off the first four, India collected 17 off the fifth to set the tone. At the end of the powerplay, India raced away to 49. At the end of the tenth over, the scoreboard was reading a promising 83 for no loss as India were well on their way of scoring big. In the meantime, Rohit surpassed Virat Kohli to become the leading run-scorer for India in T20Is.
Rohit reached his fifty in the 13th over before Fabian Allen ended the stand by dismissing Dhawan. Dhawan scored 43 and added 123 runs for the first wicket. India then promoted Rishabh Pant at number for some quick runs. However, Kharry Piere dismissed Rishabh Pant for just 5 to reduce India to 133 for 2.
Rohit, however, remained till the very end, becoming the first man to score four centuries in T20Is to guide India to a huge total. He hit three fours and a six in the final over to remain unbeaten on 111 while KL Rahul scored 26 off just 14.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the innings:
11 runs in the first three overs. Not a single boundary. And then Windies decided to introduce spin for ‘some’ reason. 38 runs in the next three. Thank You ☺️ #IndvWI

89-0 from 11 looks good but India need to get a move on. If indeed there is dew later, could need 185-190

4th century by Rohit Sharma in T20Is – most by any batsman. Two of them have come in the last three innings. He also missed one by three runs this year – 97 vs Ireland in Malahide. #BeastForm
