The Twitter world asked questions when Umesh Yadav was retained in the Indian squad for final three One Day Internationals against Windies. Umesh Yadav could not restrict 14 runs in the last over in the second ODI. In fact, Yadav was unfortunate as an edge had gone to the boundary. However, Yadav gave away 13 runs in the final over as it ended in a tie.
Thus, Yadav went on concede 78 runs in his quota of ten overs and scalped one wicket. Yadav had also given away 64 runs in the first match without taking any wicket. On the other hand, Mohammed Shami was dropped as Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah made their return to the ODI team.
Twitter asks why Shami was dropped.
In fact, this was the 12th time when Yadav went on to concede more than 70 runs in an ODI match. Lasith Malinga has conceded most as he has gone for more than 70 runs on 17 occasions.
Thus, Umesh Yadav is generally on the expensive side. Yadav can yield good pace, however, he can veer off the track in his line and length. Hence, the fast bowler can leak out the runs in abundance.
Meanwhile, India currently leads the five-match series by 1-0 after the second match ended in a tie. The third ODI will take place at Pune on October 27.
On the other hand, Yadav was in good form in the Test series. The right-arm pacer had scalped six wickets in the first innings of the second Test. Furthermore, he took four wickets in the second innings. Consequently, it was Umesh Yadav’s first ten-wicket haul in the red ball version. Therefore, he was picked in the ODI squad after coming up good in the two-match Test series.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Umesh Yadav getting another chance in India’s ODI squad:

What’s the point in giving Shami a break right now ? @BCCI
Poor strategy unless he is unfit #INDvWI https://t.co/HmGzr60tZI— Karan Patel (@karannpatelll) October 26, 2018
I agree it was unfair towards Shami to drop him as he bowled well in death overs whereas Umesh failed both at opening and death overs. But to say it is due to his religion is unacceptable. By that logic Shami & Khaleel wouldnt hv been picked in the team at all ever.

@cricketaakash @vikrantgupta73 Have to say, this selection committee is the worst ever in the history of Indian Cricket. Persisted with Umesh over Shami who looked good in the last game. Didn't consider fit-again Kedar Jadhav.
What the hell is happening with the team selections!— AbhiShek (@ImAbhishek28) October 26, 2018
In the series against INDIES shami has shown more consistency as compare to Umesh. So Shami should be better choice as a back-up pacer. Hopefully he will get more and more matches before the 2019 world cup to prove himself better.
